Review Embedded Talk “Next-Generation IoT – Communication and AI”
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the 17th Embedded Talk took place for the first time as part of the Nuremberg Digital Festival at Fraunhofer IIS at Nordostpark in Nuremberg. The topic was “Next-Generation IoT – Communication and AI”. Around 115 participants took the opportunity to discuss current research and developments in this field and to network.
After a welcome by moderator Angela Raguse (Digital Media Communication, Fraunhofer IIS) and Dr Christopher Mutschler (Head of Localization and Networking, Fraunhofer IIS), Michael Tränkler (Diehl Metering) began his keynote speech on the topic of IoT in Smart City. He focused in particular on the advantages of mioty technology in his company’s smart meters. Anja Scheckenbach (N-ERGIE) followed on from this and presented the topic of “IoT in Smart City Nuremberg” from the perspective of the energy supply in Nuremberg. In the third keynote, Simon Schrampfer (Sentinum) spoke about IoT devices in various fields of application, particularly in industry.
Gestärkt durch eine Kaffeepause stellten Jürgen Hupp, Tobias Dräger, Dr. Axel Klinge und Josef Bernhard neue Entwicklungen zu Next Generation IoT für Industrie 4.0 aus dem Fraunhofer IIS vor, insbesondere aus den Bereichen Künstliche Intelligenz, Funk, mioty, 5G/6G und RFID.
After the presentations (as during the coffee break), the accompanying exhibition could be visited, in which 17 exhibits from Fraunhofer IIS and the FAU Research Center ESI on the topics of 5G testbed (in the LINK hall), AI meets on-device learning, playing with AI, self-sufficient IoT systems and green electronics, magical material recognition with RFID, mioty, the most reliable radio protocol from Nuremberg and Smart City and Smart Metering.
All in all, the 17th Embedded Talk was once again a complete success. We are already looking forward to Embedded Talk No. 18!
