At the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS2024) in Washington, DC, USA, one of the most important conferences worldwide in the field of radio frequency and wireless technology, our doctoral students were honored with two international awards.

Christof Pannenmüller and Jasmin Gabsteiger took part in the design competition for a tunable impedance matching network together with Thomas Kurin (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg) and Christian Dorn (Technical University of Munich). The aim of this competition was to develop a low-loss circuit for matching mobile phone antennas. With their impressive design, they secured 2nd place against international competition.

In addition, Jasmin Gabsteiger received the MTT-S Graduate Fellowship 2024 Award. The MTT-S Graduate Fellowship is one of the highest awards given by the IEEE MTT Society to outstanding doctoral students for academic achievement and excellence. Jasmin Gabsteiger convinced the international jury of experts with her proposal on “Design of flexible MIMO radar sensors to improve the angular resolution” and was the only person from Germany to receive one of the 15 prestigious MTT-S Graduate Fellowships this year.
