Best Student Paper Award at DFRWS EU 2024 in Zaragoza
At the international conference DFRWS EU 2024, Maximilian Eichhorn, Janine Schneider, and Gaston Pugliese received the Best Student Paper Award for their article titled Well Played, Suspect! – Forensic Examination of the Handheld Gaming Console “Steam Deck”. The paper focuses on conducting a forensic analysis of the Steam Deck, a handheld gaming console. Eichhorn et al. examine the locally stored forensic artifacts resulting from specific action sets executed on the Steam Deck. They introduce a tool designed for automating the extraction of these local artifacts. This research was presented in Zaragoza and is available in the conference proceedings published as a special issue of the journal Forensic Science International: Digital Investigation.
